We decided to host a Vintage Tea Party to offer our residents a special afternoon tea.
Two care staff kindly scoured the charity shops for many weeks looking for bone china cups, saucers and plates. Our collection of china was assembled and vintage bunting purchased. Special paper flower decorations were made to brighten up the decorations. We found floral tablecloths and napkins and all that was left to do, was set a date!
Our Catering Manager designed the special tea-time menu and produced the delicious goodies. Freshly made sandwiches, cucumber was included in the selection - but of course! And savoury nibbles accompanied the sandwiches. The tea plates included; homemade scones, with jam and cream. Individual home baked Victoria Sandwich Cakes. Fresh strawberries adorned the decorative tiered plates. Such a sight our mouths were watering!
The residents enjoyed the event and especially liked the freshly poured tea from the bone china cups. “The tea always taste so much nicer from a bone china cup” remarked so many residents.
We have been asked by many of the residents to host this event again - who knows this might have to feature as a monthly event on our entertainments calendar!
